The traffic calming initiative has been approved for both Folkstone Drive and Westwood Hills. We are now awaiting the county installation of the speed calming devices. Details of the traffic calming initiative may be found under the committee section of the web page.

The Transitional Board Meeting was held on 15 December 2011. The 2012 board members and their assigned positions are posted under “Folkstone Board.”

Bob Ray oversees maintenance activities in Folkstone as Maintenance Coordinator. In addition to soliciting bids for maintaining our common areas and ensuring the quality of contractors’ work, Bob monitors needs and manages requests for tree and brush removal. Especially with all the recent harsh winter weather, Bob’s services have been invaluable. With so many tree companies driving through the neighborhood soliciting work, we’ve had unauthorized dumping of wood chips that is now the neighborhood’s responsibility to clean up. If you hire a tree service, please make sure they know that disposal of their chips on our common areas is not allowed.

Many thanks to all residents who have taken it upon themselves to take care of tree issues that were posing a threat to safety or blocking traffic.

Is this the year you volunteer your time to the neighborhood? Please consider stepping up for one of the Board openings, especially if you live on the Westwood Hills side. Without representation on the Board, that side of the neighborhood has no input to Board decisions.
